How To Overcome Fear: Coping With Stress
Earlier this week, we discussed change and how to deal with the differences that change makes in your life, so today, I thought it would be nice to go into one of the major aspects that tend to make change and acceptance of change, much more challenging.
In one word, it’s fear that makes change a challenge to face, accept and manage. So today, we’ll delve into how to overcome fear.

Here too, we need to look at inner belief symptoms because being raised in an overly protective or overly permissive environment can affect the fears you might still carry today. However, fear in itself, is a natural instinct that pertains to all human beings. On its good side, fear what keeps us from doing things which could place us in danger, so it’s not all bad.
However, when fear stops you from doing something you would like to be able to do, it’s time to evaluate your inner belief systems and make some adjustments. It’s time to empower yourself to go forth with self-confidence, strength, and conviction.
One good point to remember is that fear itself, does not exist in the here and now.

If you are fearful, it is most likely over something that you’re wondering about in the tomorrows or something you’re reflecting on from the yesterdays. Yesterday and tomorrow only rob you of today by creating anxiety and anguish. Whatever was, is gone and whatever might be, is greatly affected by the right here and now, and you can change that minute by minute.
The here and now is where you have your greatest capacity to make changes and create new tomorrows. Even if you’re in the process of performing an action which is fearful to you, in the moment that you begin the action, you have the power to hold your focus more on the action that you are performing, than on the fear of it. This is precisely where important tools like creative visualization help you and empower you to create the tomorrow that you see for yourself….free of fear.
How Do You Spell Fear? You Can Overcome Fear
We’ve all heard the acronym of F.E.A.R. is only False Evidence Appearing Real, but today, I’d like to give you a new acronym for fear, as well. When you face your feelings surrounding fear, you can use these ideas to see fears with a new perspective.
F for Fortress
You have within you an incredible untapped power to overcome your fear. A great quote on this idea is:
If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.
Claim your power by reinforcing your fortress. Empower yourself with positive self-talk and you will find your thoughts changing, too.
Your body is the fortress that holds your soul, so make sure to stock up on ample anti-stress vitamin rich foods so that you place yourself in the best condition to feel your body as a true fortress.
E is for Empower
Use uplifting ideas to empower yourself and keep yourself around uplifting people. If there are any people who don’t believe in your power to overcome your fear, then either stay away from them or severely limit your time with them.
You are on the path of strengthening your fortress and propelling your inner power forward. It’s extremely important to keep your personal space safe and protected from negativity.

A is for Adjust
It’s time to get ready for a new you and this means adjusting to your decision to adapt a new approach in overcoming fear. You’ll want to exercise your new power by starting with the little things. Perhaps things that you’ve procrastinated for fear of the energy or time commitment.
Things like cleaning out the attic, the basement or the garage might be good mini fears to overcome. Anything that will get you out of your comfort zone of excuse making is going to be something that is going to help you start adjusting to the new you who conquers fears with ease. This might even be a good time to willingly choose a different route to work, just to get your mind into exploring different paths.
R is for Relaxation
Listening to relaxing music can also help, given that music therapy is a widely used technique for relaxation today. Build up your relaxation capacities by trying something specific, soothing and tranquilizing every day. You will be surprised how much easier you find it to relax after even as little as 7 days of dedication.
Reinforce your relaxation techniques and skills with calming words to yourself like “I’m calm and serene and can do everything that needs to be done by me today”. The more calm you are, the less chance fear has to get you in its grip. Positive affirmations help keep your mind focused on the you that you’d like to be and this gives you the power to recreate your reality.
